Kellan is an Oak Ridge Institute of Science and Education (ORISE) Research Fellow with the bioacoustics lab. She graduated from Oregon State University in 2022 with her B.S. in Fisheries & Wildlife Sciences with a specialization in Conservation Biology, as well as a graduate certificate in Wildlife Management.
Prior to starting her fellowship, Kellan was an Undergraduate Research in the Sciences and Arts (URSA) Research Fellow studying Barn owl behavior and nest box adoption success. She was a research analyst for the Institute of Natural Resources, where she wrote several species analyses on native reptile and amphibian species in Oregon as part of the Oregon Connectivity Assessment and Mapping Project for Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW), to determine current wildlife habitat connectivity across the state for several strategy species.
Recently, she was a writing technician at Oregon State University for Dr. Todd Wilson, researching Humboldt's flying squirrel ecology. Throughout her academic journey, she nurtured a profound interest in behavioral ecology, conservation biology, and wildlife management. Beyond her professional commitments, she spends most of her time outside taking wildlife photographs or creating insightful science-communication content for social media.
